Engine Power and Performance

The 2022 Ford Super Duty trucks have three engines to choose from, so you can select the one you need most.

The standard engine on the Super Duty F-250 and F-350 is a 6.2L Flex-Fuel Gas V8 that provides 385 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque.

The other gas engine option for the Ford Super Duty is the available 7.3L V8. With this motor, you'll get a little more power with 430 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque.

If you're looking for the most power out of your truck, the next step up is the available 6.7L Power Stroke® V8 Turbo Diesel engine with an impressive 475 horsepower and whopping 1,050 lb-ft of torque.

Paired with most of these engines-except the F-250's 6.2L gas engine-is a Torqshift® 10-speed automatic transmission designed to optimize performance.

There are five selectable drive modes available, as well:

  • Normal
  • Slippery
  • Tow/Haul
  • Deep Sand/Snow
  • Eco

Ford Super Duty Towing and Payload Capacity

Each Super Duty vehicle has its own unique towing and payload capacity. This can change depending on many things, including model, engine, and equipment.

The F-250 has a maximum payload capacity of 4,260 pounds. You'll get even more payload capabilities with the 6,210 pounds of the F-450. For the most, opt for the F-350 with a maximum payload capacity of 7,850 pounds.

When it comes to towing, the Super Duty trucks can handle quite a lot. When properly equipped, the maximum towing capacities of the Super Duty models are…

  • F-250: 20,000 pounds
  • F-350: 21,200 pounds
