Sometimes, you want to hitch a trailer up to your SUV and be on your way around West Point, King William, and Williamsburg, Virginia. When that time comes, look to the 2021 Ford Edge. While other performance traits like horsepower or MPG typically stand out when discussing this SUV, the Ford Edge towing capacity is impressive, as well.

In fact, our team at West Point Ford has answered a few questions about the overall capability of the dynamic Edge. To get a feel for what this model provides, check out the following overview!

Up to 3,500 Pounds of Towing Capacity With the 2021 Ford Edge

Ford Edge TowingThere are quite a few Ford models that display impressive towing capacity, and the Edge is certainly on that list.

To get the most from your SUV, you'll want to opt for the Class II Trailer Tow Package. With this package equipped, your Edge will reach a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds. The Class II Trailer Tow Package is available on the SEL and Titanium trims and comes standard on the ST trim.

In addition to having tremendous strength, your SUV will benefit from Trailer Sway Control. It provides stability and reassurance, whether you're navigating city streets or are cruising along the highway.

Further traction is provided by an available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system that alters the torque output to each wheel, enhancing grip during slick weather conditions.

Key Performance Traits

Ford Edge SpecsYou can go in a couple different directions when setting up the performance specs in your Ford Edge. There are two engines to pick from, each one delivering an appealing mixture of power and efficiency.

The base 2.0L EcoBoost® 4-cylinder is turbocharged and comes with 250 horsepower, 280 lb-ft of torque, and an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 21 city/29 highway MPG. An 8-speed automatic transmission will be guiding your gear changes.

The other engine you can go with is a 2.7L EcoBoost® twin-turbocharged V6 that generates 335 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque. A unique 7-speed automatic transmission is included when stepping up to the V6 engine on trims like the Ford Edge ST. The V6 is still efficient, too, delivering an EPA-estimated 19 city/26 highway MPG.

Efficiency is further enhanced by Auto Start-Stop Technology. What this system does is shut off your engine when you come to a complete halt in order to conserve fuel. As you release the brake pedal, your engine will start again, and you can be on your way.

Continue to Boost Performance

If you want to continue building up the overall performance of your Ford Edge, you can choose from a range of worthwhile packages and accessories.

Take the ST Performance Brake Package, for instance. To enhance stopping power, this package includes front and rear vented disc brakes, unique front rotors, a brushless radiator cooling fan, performance brake pads, summer-only tires, and vented brake shields.

The 2021 Ford Edge Is Ready to Tow

The 2021 Ford Edge towing capacity is yet another trait that makes this SUV so versatile. No matter what your day-to-day routine around King William, Williamsburg, and West Point, VA, consists of, the Edge will prove a valuable companion.
