Are you on the hunt for a powerful truck that's also eco-friendly? Recently, electric trucks hit the roads of West Point, King William, and Williamsburg, Virginia. Two trucks you've probably heard about are the Ford F-150 Lightning and the Chevrolet Silverado EV.
The Silverado EV has not yet hit markets and won't for another year or two, but we at West Point Ford will still show you how the F-150 Lightning and Chevy Silverado EV stack up against one another. Take a look.
Ford F-150 Lightning vs Chevy Silverado EV Power & Performance
The Silverado EV and the F-150 Lightning offer two powertrain options, although the Silverado EV hasn't announced theirs yet. The Silverado EV aims to hit 510 horsepower to start and up to 664 horsepower for other trims.
The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning-available to order now-has two battery options and kicks things off with 426 horsepower and up to a whopping 563 horsepower with the extended-range battery. You have the option of a 4x2 or 4x4 drivetrain, so you can get the traction you need when you need it.
To customize your drives, there are several drive modes to choose from:
- Normal
- Sport
- Tow/Haul
- Off-Road
F-150 Lightning vs Silverado EV Productivity Features
When choosing a powerful truck like the F-150 Lightning or the Silverado EV, you might use them on jobsites or personal projects. Both trucks have some features to help you out with that.
The Silverado EV has an available Multi-Flex Tailgate that lets you open the tailgate as you need it. The power release lets you open it with your key fob. The Multi-Flex Midgate acts similarly, so you can divide up the truck bed if you need to.
The F-150 Lightning offers quite a few different features, like an Interior Work Surface, which lets you turn your cab into an office. The available enhanced zone lighting lets you work at night, too. LED lights let you light up the area all around your truck, including the:
- Truck bed
- Left side
- Right side
- Behind the truck
You can also activate the zones you need via the FordPassâ„¢ App.
Ford F-150 Lightning vs Chevy Silverado EV Safety & Driver-Assisting Features
To quote Spiderman, With great power comes great responsibility. That goes for keeping yourself and other drivers safe when you're on the road. To help you out with that, the Silverado EV and the F-150 Lightning come with standard driver-assisting and safety features like:
- Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking
- Lane-Keeping System
- Auto High Beam Headlamps
The Ford F-150 Lightning offers many more safety features than the Silverado EV announced. This includes standard BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert, which the Silverado EV doesn't have standard.
This system keeps an eye on your blind spots and warns you if there is a vehicle in one. When you're pulling out of a driveway or parking spot, this system can also warn you of vehicles coming by from the left or the right.
Which All-Electric Truck Is Right for You?
Even with the bells and whistles that the Chevrolet Silverado EV offers, the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning is the truck that comes out on top. It's available now, and you'd have to wait a year or two until the Silverado EV can even be ordered.
